Dr Marko Novaković

Senior Research Fellow

Dr Marko Novakovic joined Institute of International Politics and Economics in 2009. His areas of research include diplomatic and consular law, human rights and theory of international law. Marko was Editor-in-Chief of IIPE′s journal Evropsko zakonodavstvo. He completed undergraduate and master studies at Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, at the same faculty he defended with distinction his PhD thesis Legal Status of International Civil Servants. He published series of articles on these subjects. He edited several collections of papers and among them stands out „Basic Concepts of Public International Law – Monism & Dualism”, that featured over 50 authors from 30 countries, and with late professor Detlev Vagts of Harvard University as reviewer. He is secretary-general and co-founder of Serbian International Law Association. He is member of Executive Council of International Law Association, London and Associazione degli Studiosi di Diritto Internazionale ed Europeo, Rome. From 2013 he has been Corresponding Editor of International Legal Materials, journal published by American Society of International Law and member of editorial board of journal Archive for Social and Legal Sciences. Marko spent one month working as visiting researcher at LMU, Munich, and has been awarded scholarship of The Hague Academy of International Law. He is working as lecturer and coordinator of Regional Academy on the United Nations, Vienna.
