Dr Ivona Lađevac

Research Fellow

Dr Ivona Lađevac is Research Project Manager of the ongoing IIPE project “Serbia and Challenges in International Relations in 2022”, financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. Dr Lađevac joined Institute of International Politics and Economics in 2001, since 2008 she is in charged for international cooperation, while from September   2017 until July 2021 she was a Head of the Center “One Belt, One Road. She is Editor-in-Chief of the journal “International Problems”.

She graduated and earned her MSc Degree at the Faculty of Political Sciences Belgrade University (department for International Relations), while her Ph.D. got at the Faculty of Security Studies with thesis on “Strategic Partnership  of Russian Federation and People’s Republic of China within global security context”.

Dr Lađevac also completed specialization in European studies and attended seminars on strengthening capacity of public administration, labor migrations in the Balkans, strengthening capacity of the cross-border cooperation, preparing project proposals for EU funded projects, as well the United Nations summer school about challenges to international peace and security in new millennium.

Besides that, she was a co-coordinator of IPA project “Debating of Serbia’s European future: voice of the civil society in the decision-making process”, realized in 2010/2011 by European Institute from Sofia and IIPE. Currently, she is the research leader of bilateral mobility project “Belt and Road Initiative: Prospect and Limitations”, financed by the ministries of sciences of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Serbia.

She has participated in many international conferences and authored numerous scientific papers, including two monographs, editor and coeditor of several thematic and international conference proceedings.

Dr Lađevac cooperates with China Daily, China Watch Think Tank Platform, Chinese Radio International and is IIPE’s representative in the Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network (SIRONET).

Her main research areas are contemporary international relations, focused to relations between China and Russia, the Belt and the Road Initiative as well to cooperation between China and CEEC’s.

Since July 2022, Ivona is a member of the Governing Board of the International Center for Research and Training in Science and Technology (CISTRAT) of Chinese Academy for Science and Technology for Development.

Fluent in English, possess good knowledge of French and studying Chinese language.
