Milan Veselica, MA, Research Assistant at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, held the introductory lecture “Church Power Politics: The Relationship of the Roman Catholic Church Towards the World Council of Churches”.

Colleague Veselica presented the relationship between the two transnational religious organizations and, from the perspective of rational choice theory, offered an answer to the question why the Roman Catholic Church, despite its strong involvement in the work of the World Council of Churches, does not want to become a full member. This topic has been approached from a theological and historical point of view, while colleague Veselica showed the international political dimension of this issue.
