Institute of International Politics and Economics is an official partner of the 59th October Salon, a representative international manifestation in the field of visual arts, whose founder and patron is the City of Belgrade.

Inspired by the events and war happenings in the 20th century that transformed the city of Belgrade, Dušan Rajić – Dulait painted a mural on the facade of the Institute at Makedonska 25. Mural contains the years when Belgrade was bombed in major wars in the first half of the 20th century and during NATO aggression. in 1999.

The location for the mural was inspired by consequences of the April bombing of Belgrade in 1941, when the forces of the Third Reich dropped several hundred tons of bombs on the Yugoslav capital.

Over 2,500 civilians were killed in the bombing and thousands of buildings and structures were destroyed. The building of the National Library on Kosančićev venac was destroyed in a fire caused by bombs.

The Second Male Gymnasium, which was located on the site of today’s Politika building in Makedonska Street, was badly damaged, and it was this location that served the artist to make an intervention on the remains of the previous building in the form of a mural that will mark the site of the former Gymnasium.

The October Salon is traditionally organized by the Cultural Center of Belgrade, and every year it opens on October 20th, in honor of Belgrade’s Liberation Day in World War II (https://oktobarskisalon.org).
