In cooperation with the Philological Gymnasium, Belgrade, the Institute of International Politics and Economics organised a celebration to mark the upcoming Chinese New Year as a part of the efforts to promote a flourishing cultural cooperation between Serbia and PR China. In the introductory part, Dr. Branislav Đorđević, IIPE Director, held a welcome speech, followed by Mr. Tian Jishu, Political Advisor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Serbia, Marina Soković, Assistant Minister of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, and Mrs. Dragana Ćećez Iljukić, Principal of the Philological Gymnasium. Dr. Katarina Zakić talked about the traditional Chinese calendar, traditions and customs related to celebration of the Chinese New Year. The students of the Philological Gymnasium performed programme by reciting traditional Chinese proverbs and poetry from the Tang Dynasty, as well as interpreting several traditional songs on flute and clarinet. Afterwards, Dr. Ivona Lađevac, Head of the Regional Centre for the Study of Belt and Road, addressed the attendees expressing her wish to continue fruitful cooperation with domestic and foreign partners in promoting Chinese culture in Serbia.
