Dr Veljko Blagojević

Senior Research Fellow

Dr Veljko Blagojević has joined Institute of International Politics and Economics in November 2023. His main areas of academic interest include international relations, with the emphasis on international security and strategic studies, as well as defense diplomacy.

He has graduated from  the Military Academy in Belgrade in 1992, succusesfully acomplished studies on the the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2003, and Specialist Academic United States Studies in 2006 at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Belgrade (“The Impact of the 2002 US National Security Strategy on International Relations), and obtained his PhD on the Faculty of Law, Public Administration and Security at the John Nesbitt University in Belgrade in 2016 (“The Political and Legal Position of the Defense Diplomacy in the Implementation of the Foreign Policy Function of the Republic of Serbia”).

He was the manager of the scientific research project entitled “Strategic Culture as a Determinant of National Security in the Function of Supporting the Concept of Military Neutrality” (2017-2020). He is the head of the scientific research project entitled “Neutrality and Strategic Deterrence”, which was implemented from 2021 to 2023. He is a visiting lecturer at several faculties and professional educational institutions in the fields of political system, international relations and diplomacy.

He is author and co-author of the following scienthific monographs: Serbia and the Challenges of Defense Diplomacy (2017 in Serbian), Defense Diplomacy – Concept, Legal Basis, Organization (2017), Military Power in International Politics, Past-Present – Future (2019), Power and Force – Serbia and the Military Factor in International Politics (2022 in Serbian), as well as dozens of articles in scientific journals and anthologies.
