Dr Bogdan Stojanović

Senior Research Fellow

Dr Bogdan Stojanović has been employed at the Institute of International Politics and Economics since October 2018. He obtained diploma in International Relations from the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, where he also completed a master’s degree in the field of International Security. He successfully completed doctoral studies within the International and European Studies program at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, defending his PhD dissertation entitled Ecological Security as a Factor for States’ Withdrawal from the Nuclear Weapons Programs in 2020. From 2011 to 2015, he worked as an advisor for security and operational affairs at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, within the Directorate for the Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions. He has passed the state professional examination required for employment in public administration bodies.

In his scientific research, he focuses on geopolitics and security studies, with particular emphasis on nuclear weapons, geopolitics of outer space, modern warfare, intelligence studies, and political communication. He is the author of several dozen scientific articles, two co-authored scientific monographs (The Balance of Nuclear Power between the United States and Russia (USSR), 2012, and The Geopolitics of Outer Space and International Law, 2025), one single-authored scientific monograph (The Theory of Denuclearization: Why States Abandon Nuclear Weapons Programs?, 2021), and one popular science book (Soul on the Edge: The Mystery Called Homo Destructor, 2024). Between 2018 and 2020, he served as a research associate at the Center for Russian Studies of the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, where he was also engaged on several occasions as a guest lecturer.

Dr Stojanović is present in the media both, within his academic field and in the domain of domestic politics, owing to his many years of experience in organizing electoral campaigns and developing political communication strategies for political actors across Europe. He is the author of academic articles for the renowned Geneva-based foundation Diplo. He is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of German.
