The Institute of International Politics and Economics and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Serbia organized a roundtable titled “Perspectives for Contemporary World: The Road towards True Multilateralism”.

In the opening remarks, the participants were addressed by Dr. Ivona Lađevac, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics; H.E. Mr. Li Ming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Serbia; and Tian Yu from the China Media Group.

Participants in the working session comprised: Marina Raguš, National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Dr. Ivona Lađevac, Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the IIPE; Dr. Aleksandar Mitić and Dr. Slobodan Popović, Research Fellows at the IIPE; and Dr. Chen Xiu, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Novi Sad.

Participants of the roundtable examined China’s vision for global cooperation, analysing key Chinese global initiatives and the country’s engagement within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Special emphasis was placed on the philosophical and strategic foundations underlying this vision, including Confucian values and the concept of a shared future for mankind, as pathways to a more inclusive and sustainable multilateralism. The discussion also focused on strengthening the partnership between Serbia and the People’s Republic of China, as well as building a community with a shared future in the new era.
