Dr Nevena Šekarić Stojanović

Research Fellow

Nevena Šekarić Stojanović joined the Institute of International Politics and Economics in July 2018, within the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies. The areas of her academic interests are energy security, regional security, international relations theories, and qualitative research methodology of security phenomena.

During her studies at the Faculty of Security Studies, Nevena was a teaching fellow in undergraduate courses in Foundations of Security, Security Systems and Corporate Security. She is a scholarship carrier of the City of Smederevo and of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, as well as of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. During her master studies, Nevena was an intern in United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and in Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP). She was the secretary of the IIPE’s The Review of International Affairs scientific journal during 2021 and 2022, and as of 2021 she is member of the Eastern and South-Eastern Europe Fanel Network, established to promote women expertise in areas of international relations, security studies and political science.

Nevena authored more than twenty scientific articles and several book reviews published in academic publications. Nevena has had presentations in several national and international scientific conferences and has participated in a number of seminars and other educational trainings in Serbia and abroad.

She obtained the PhD title from the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Security Studies, where she defended her dissertation „Energy security of the European Regional Security Complex: securitization of the Russian natural gas and transformation potentials of the complex“. Nevena is fluent in English.
