Prof. Dr. Dušan Prorokovic, Senior Research Associate at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, took part on 4 July 2026, in an online format, in the international conference “Geopolitics and Christianity: The West’s Spiritual War against Orthodoxy,” held in Rimini, Italy. The conference was organised by the Centre for Eurasian and Mediterranean Studies (Centro Studi Eurasia Mediterraneo), the publishing house Theosis and the Association “Russia Emilia-Romagna”, and was moderated by Olimpia Fronzoni, Director of the Theosis publishing house.
The conference brought together researchers, theologians and publicists from Italy, Greece, Russia and Serbia. The discussion was devoted to the role of the Orthodox Christian tradition in the contemporary geopolitical context: questions of identity, historical heritage and the challenges facing the Orthodox world.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Prorokovic addressed the ideological foundations of the conflicts taking place within the Orthodox world and against Orthodox states, as well as the need to define value patterns within the framework of social conservatism. In his assessment, reliance on social conservatism also entails a search for the traditional foundations for defining such elementary concepts as freedom, democracy, order, human rights and security. He concluded that the Orthodox world must offer its own vision of the future, systemic and comprehensive, articulated through a single, unified metanarrative.
