Dr. Nenad Stekić, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, visited the Ludovika University of Public Service in Budapest as a guest lecturer within the Ludovika Scholars Program from April 20 to 24, 2026. His professional program was organized by the John Lukacs Institute for Strategy and Politics.

His public lecture titled “China’s Economic Presence in the Balkans” was held on April 21, 2026, jointly organized by the John Lukacs Institute and the Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies. On that occasion, Dr. Stekić provided a comprehensive overview of China’s presence in the Western Balkans, including investment and trade processes, the broader geopolitical and economic context, as well as the international position of the region.

On April 22, 2026, the John Lukacs Institute also organized a closed-door expert workshop at which Dr. Stekić delivered a presentation titled “Political and Economic Relations and the Evolution of Social Patterns between China and Central and Eastern Europe until 2030”.

Dr. Stekić presented the methodology of the PERSPECTIVES 2030 project, implemented by the research team of the Institute of International Politics and Economics in 2025. The event was attended by Institute staff, doctoral students, and external experts specializing in China, who engaged in an active professional discussion on the methodological aspects of studying political and economic interactions between China and the Central and Eastern European region. The discussion developed into a particularly in-depth and substantive professional exchange, providing valuable insights for all participants.

As part of the same program, Dr. Stekić also visited the Hungarian National Parliament, where he became more familiar with the country’s institutional framework and political tradition.
