IIPE Researchers, Dr. Vladimir Trapara, Senior Research Fellow, and Dr. Mladen Lišanin, Research Fellow, participated in the Annual Convention of the International Studies Association (ISA), held from March 22 to 25, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio, United States.
Dr. Trapara presented a paper titled “Post-Tsymburskian Cycles in the History of the Russia-Western Relations”, offering a theoretical reflection on Vadim Tsymbursky’s idea of cyclical movements in Russia-West relations and its reinterpretation in the form of Gordon Hahn’s “neo-Tsymburskian” cycles. Dr. Trapara also participated in the ISA section meeting for Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES), where he is a member of the executive board. Dr. Trapara arrived tin Columbus from Clarksville, Tennessee, where he is currently a Fulbright visiting researcher at Austin Peay State University.
Dr. Lišanin presented the papers “Eastern Europe and U.S. Grand Strategy: Selective but Deep Engagement” and “Understanding Transatlantic Relations in the Trump Era: A Conceptual Framework.” He also participated in the roundtable From Smart Power to Spatial Transformation: Rethinking Regionalism in the Trump Era, held as part of the work on the forthcoming publication Between Conflict and Cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean (Springer, 2027).
