As part of the Winter School of International Relations at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, a roundtable discussion was organized to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.

The speakers included participants from the United States and Serbia: Dr. Rudy Baker and Seth Riker from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee; Dr. Dragan Simić from the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade; Dr. Ivan Vujačić, retired professor of the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade and former Serbian Ambassador to Washington; Dr. Mihajlo Kopanja from the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade; and Dr. Mladen Lišanin, Research Associate at the Institute of International Politics and Economics.

The participants were welcomed by Dr. Ivona Lađevac, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics.

The speakers provided multidisciplinary perspectives on the history and the contemporary global position of the United States to an audience composed of the IIPE Winter School participants, as well as a large group of students from Austin Peay State University visiting Belgrade as part of the third “Austin Peay Week” hosted by the Institute.
