The Institute of International Politics and Economics, in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Serbia, the Confucius Institute of the University of Novi Sad, the Chinese Cultural Center in Belgrade, and the association “Music and Word,” solemnly marked the beginning of the celebrations of the Chinese New Year.
Guests and researchers were welcomed with opening addresses by Dr. Ivona Lađevac, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics; H.E. Mr. Li Ming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Serbia; and Ms. Chen Xiu, Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Novi Sad.
Dr. Lađevac stated that this ceremony represents an ideal opportunity to promote the decision to transform the Belt and Road Center into a Center for Chinese Studies, thereby confirming the further deepening of cooperation with the People’s Republic of China.
The program was hosted by Dr. Slobodan Popović, Research Fellow at the Institute, who presented the history and traditions of this important Chinese holiday. The ceremonial segment of the event featured a rich cultural and artistic program that vividly showcased the customs and symbols of the Spring Festival, as well as Chinese culture in wider sense.
The Institute of International Politics and Economics extends its sincere congratulations to its partners from the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of the upcoming Chinese New Year and wishes them a happy Year of the Fire Horse.
