The central event marking the 78th anniversary of the Institute of International Politics and Economics was the Ceremonial Academy. The ceremony, held at the Institute’s premises, was attended by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, ambassadors accredited in our country, deans of faculties, directors of scientific institutions, representatives of the academic community, local governments, and the media.

During the Academy, Prof. Dr. Branislav Djordjevic, Director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Cvetković, President of the Institute’s Governing Board, and Dr. Jelena Kostić, Assistant Minister for Science, addressed the guests. The speakers emphasized the importance of the Institute of International Politics and Economics as the oldest and most prestigious scientific institution in the field of international relations in Europe, highlighting its long tradition, extensive international cooperation, and significant scientific achievements that make the Institute a key pillar of the state in analyzing and addressing contemporary and global challenges.

Congratulatory messages on the Institute’s Day, besides many foreign and home institutions, were sent by Ana Brnabić, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and Academician Bela Balint, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, in which they acknowledged the Institute’s contribution to the study of international relations and its significance for Serbian science and international cooperation.

Today’s anniversary was also marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute of International Politics and Economics and the daily newspaper “Politika”.

During the Ceremonial Academy, awards were presented to individuals and institutions that had contributed to the Institute’s work over the past year. The charters were awarded to Prof. Dr. Tanja Miščević, the Hanns Seidel Foundation in the Republic of Serbia, and Mr. Aljoša Milenković.

The highest recognition, the Big Plaquette of the Institute of International Politics and Economics for 2025, was awarded to Prof. Dr. Vladimir Grečić, a retired researcher at the Institute and a leading Serbian scholar in the field of migration. Prof. Grečić addressed the audience on behalf of the awardees.

The Institute’s Annual Award for 2025, which is given to an employee who has achieved exceptional results throughout the year, was awarded to Dr. Nenad Stekić, Senior Research Fellow.

The artistic program of the Ceremonial Academy was performed by students of the Music School “Dr. Vojislav Vučković“, under the direction of Ms. Sladjana Torbica, the school’s principal.
