Research fellow at the Institute, Dr. Nenad Stekić, participated in the 28th World Congress of the International Political Science Association (IPSA), held in Seoul from July 12 to 17. This year’s overarching theme of the Congress was “Resisting Autocratization in Polarized Societies”.

Dr. Stekić took part in the panel “The State, Corporations, and China in the Global Economy”, where he presented his paper titled “Forecasting China-Central and Eastern Europe Relations in 2030: Delphi Method Insights on Political, Economic, and Social Dynamics”. The paper was developed as part of the research project “PERSPECTIVES 2030.”

The IPSA Congress, held biennially, gathered over 3,000 participants from around the world this year, making it the largest event of its kind globally in the field of political science. At the opening ceremony, during the plenary session, speeches were given by Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, as well as the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung. At the closing of the Congress, the participants were addressed by the Speaker of the South Korean Parliament, Woo Won-shik.

During the Congress, Dr. Stekić was elected as a member of the IPSA Research Committee dedicated to the study of democratization from a comparative perspective.

While in Seoul, Dr. Stekić also paid the visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, where he met with Ambassador H.E. Mr. Nemanja Grbić. In addition, he had the opportunity to visit the prestigious Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University, where he met with the Dean of the institution.
